How many Moonboxes do I need?
A good rule of thumb is 1 Moonbox per cat for maximum convenience, but one Moonbox can absolutely be shared. 1 cat: 1 Moonbox, clean about 1x/day. 2 cats: 1 Moonbox, clean about 2x/day; 2 Moonboxes, about 1x/day. 3 cats: 1 Moonbox, about 3x/day; 2 Moonboxes, about 1-2x/day; 3 Moonboxes, about 1x/day. The more cats sharing one Moonbox, the more often you'll want to rotate and empty it. For two cats, the Stainless 2-Pack is $179.
What comes in the box?

Is Moonbox 3D printed?
No. Moonbox is made from injection-molded ABS with a clean, seamless finish. The Stainless version also has 304 stainless steel surfaces in the major litter and waste-contact areas. The version you've seen in many of our videos is a 3D-printed prototype used for testing and development.
Do you ship internationally?
Right now we ship within the United States only.
Will Moonbox rotate while my cat is inside?
No. Moonbox locks into place in the neutral position, so your cat won't accidentally rotate it during normal use. We've tested the design with multiple cats without any issues.
Will clumps get stuck at the bottom?
Rarely. At the recommended 4 inch litter level, the curved barrel causes litter to naturally fall back toward the center as your cat digs. If a clump does stick, a quick tap will usually knock it loose. Moonbox also includes a hidden emergency scraper for the rare stubborn clump.
Will my cat fit?
Moonbox has a 14 x 14 inch (36 x 36 cm) usable litter bed. Since every cat has different preferences, we recommend comparing this measurement with the usable litter area in your cat's current litter box.
What are the dimensions?
Overall: 22 in L x 16.5 in W x 28 in H (56 x 42 x 71 cm). Usable Litter Bed: 14 x 14 in (36 x 36 cm). Recommended Operating Space: 32 in L x 22 in W (81 x 56 cm).
Will you make an XL size?
Right now, we're focused on our standard size, which is designed to fit the vast majority of cats. An XL Moonbox for larger breeds like Maine Coons is definitely something we'd love to explore in the future.
Can my senior or disabled cat use Moonbox?
Most cats should be able to use Moonbox comfortably. Cats are natural climbers, and if your cat can handle a normal stair step, they should be able to get in and out without a problem. For super-senior cats or cats with limited mobility, a detachable Senior Ramp is available as an add-on for $29.
What types of litter work with Moonbox?
Moonbox works with most standard clumping litters. Every Moonbox includes both the Standard Grill and Precision Grill. Recommended: Clay, Corn, Wood, Olive, Wheat, Soft Wood, Walnut, Cassava, Crystal, Silica, Cornstarch, Tofu (Granular) - the best Moonbox experience with excellent sifting and performance. Usable with trade-offs: Standard Tofu, Plant Pellet, Standard Pea Husk - works, but may affect sifting speed, cleanliness, or overall experience. Not compatible: Pine Pellet, Large Paper Pellets. Pine pellet litter breaks down into sawdust and needs a different sifting method - we're developing a version engineered for pine pellet systems.
Does Moonbox work with pine pellet litter?
Not this version. Pine pellets break down into sawdust and require a different separation system. A future version designed specifically for pellet litter is something we'd love to explore.
Does Moonbox work with tofu litter?
Yes, but the type of tofu litter matters. Traditional larger tofu pellets are usable, but they aren't the best Moonbox experience. Granular tofu litter works much better and has performed really well in our testing.
How do I clean Moonbox?
Moonbox is fully washable. You can hose it down or rinse it in a bathtub. For a deeper clean, Moonbox can be disassembled to give you access to the interior surfaces and removable separation grill. And because there are no electrical components, there's nothing electronic to protect from water.
Can I use plastic liners in the waste drawer?
Yes. The waste drawer has a built-in lip designed to hold most plastic grocery bags and commercially available small waste liners. Moonbox does not require proprietary bags.
Will clumps stick to the sides?
For cats that regularly pee against the walls, yes, this can occasionally happen. A few taps from the outside will usually release the clump and allow it to slide down. For stubborn clumps, Moonbox includes a hidden emergency scraper inside the landing pad storage.
Does Moonbox have a warranty?
Yes. Lifetime warranty: for as long as you own your Moonbox, we replace any part with a manufacturing defect. If your Moonbox arrives damaged, we'll provide the replacement, parts, or support you need.
